Oleiros

Oleiros, Portugal

The project originated from a morphological and geographical analysis of the immediate surroundings, where the plot’s size and geometry, combined with the requested program, guided the identification of lines and visual relationships that define the site. The building, modest in scale, draws references from the surrounding morphology, reinterpreting them through a contemporary approach while clearly alluding to vernacular architecture. The various proposed spaces are interconnected through pathways and coexisting areas, distinguished by both their materiality and the specific use associated with each one.

From the lines that visually define the spaces emerges the Multifunctional Building/Auditorium, conceived not only through its placement and the interplay between solid and void but as a unique creation reflecting the spirit of the place. The reinterpretation of traditional roofs, transformed into light-filled coverings, lends the building a singular and contemporary character while echoing the local history. Schist walls embrace the structure, creating a strong sense of belonging to the land, where memories intertwine, inviting the gaze to lift toward the sky and dream.
