Matiota Monte Cara Baía View

Mindelo, Cabo Verde

The pursuit of integrating the architectural object with its surroundings while respecting urban constraints led to a design that is morphologically adapted to the site and its plot. The strong connection to the sea and proximity to the beach shaped an iconic development, influenced by the terrain’s morphology and the island itself. The project aims to establish itself as a distinctive architectural landmark, shaped by the surrounding landscape. The goal is to create a lightweight structure that extends along the hillside, from the top down to the sea, fragmented across different levels. While unified in essence, the development adapts to the natural topography of the coastline and terrain.

Formally, the project resembles the fingers of a hand, with each section representing an aparthotel unit. Its geometry emerges from the natural shape of the site, gradually dematerializing as it nears the sea. This integration is enhanced by outdoor spaces and gardens, creating a seamless relationship between the units and the landscape. The intervention consists of two key elements: the built structure, housing the aparthotel and its essential services, and the landscape intervention along the coastal edge, featuring natural pools.
