The house is organized across two floors. The lower level primarily houses the social areas—a sequence
of living rooms, dining spaces, and a kitchen—each shaped by different relationships with the terrain, creating more or less secluded environments. These spaces share the presence of the sloping roof, the distribution gallery, and a strong connection to the outdoor social area. The master suite is located on the upper floor, separated from the rest of the house by the gallery and the roof’s geometry, ensuring privacy. The remaining suites are positioned on the lower wing, facing the garden and the more private area of the plot.
Verdizela House
Verdizela, Portugal

The house, while contained in its floor plan geometry, is volumetrically deconstructed. The structure presents varying heights depending on the perspective from which it is experienced. It reaches its full height at the main façade—the entrance of the plot—but gradually lowers toward the pool and outdoor social area, enhancing the sense of intimacy and comfort. The naturally sloping roof is visible and engages with the adjacent spaces. This volumetric deconstruction is also evident in the main façade, where the volume is carved out and split in two, reducing its visual impact while establishing a clear relationship with the existing pine trees on the site.
